What are the superstitions specific to certain professions?

Traditions, cultural beliefs, or the history of the profession often give rise to specific superstitions in certain professions. Here are some examples:

Actors and theater crew members follow various superstitions to ensure the success of a play. For example, instead of saying “good luck” to an actor before a performance, they say “break a leg.” They also avoid whistling backstage or saying the name of the play “Macbeth” in a theater.

Professional athletes, especially in sports clubs, may have superstitious rituals to enhance their performance or luck. This could include wearing lucky clothing, following specific routines before a game, or avoiding certain actions considered to bring bad luck.

Sailors and Fishermen: The sea, being a place of uncertainty, has led sailors and fishermen to hold long-standing beliefs for protection and success. For example, they give names to ships and talk to them to encourage smooth sailing.

Medicine: Even though medicine is a science, some doctors engage in personal superstitions, such as carrying a lucky object or following a specific routine to ensure the success of a surgery or treatment.

Professional superstitions are often passed down through generations and can play a crucial role in team cohesion and the morale of professionals.
